Left out, on purpose

Not a feature count for its own sake. Drupd wins where billing speed and the finished invoice matter, and steps aside where FreshBooks is doing a different, heavier job.

01The honest version

FreshBooks is real accounting software, and Drupd is not trying to be. Drupd makes one bet: send a beautiful invoice and get paid, fast enough to finish between two client calls.

Every template is hand-typeset and server-rendered at true A4, so what lands in your client's inbox looks designed, not generated. The bookkeeping Drupd leaves out is the reason the screen stays calm and the document stays sharp.

02Side by side

The same work, two very different tools.

03Where it pulls ahead

Four reasons the switch pays off.

01 / Speed

Sent before the coffee cools

A five-step wizard with a live preview, ⌘S to save and ⌘↵ to send. No chart of accounts to wire up first. The fastest path from finished work to a sent invoice.

02 / The artifact

An invoice that looks like you charge what you charge

Five handcrafted templates, typeset to the millimetre and server-rendered at true A4, carry your brand color, your logo, and even your crypto wallet icons. The PDF a client opens is a beautiful, professional document that does the same brand work as your portfolio, not a form that fell out of an accounting suite.

03 / Payments

Get paid on the rail you actually use

Card link, bank details with country-aware fields (IBAN, SWIFT, routing, BSB, IFSC), and crypto wallets, all one-click-copy on the public invoice. FreshBooks covers cards and ACH but adds neither global bank rails nor crypto.

04 / No lock-in

Your data leaves as cleanly as it arrived

Export your whole workspace as a ZIP of CSVs and PDFs whenever you want, no plan tier required. The free plan covers unlimited invoices to three clients with no card, so trying Drupd costs nothing and leaving it costs nothing.

04 · The price

$6/mo
FreshBooks$23/mo

About $216 a year back in your pocket, before FreshBooks climbs toward $80/mo.

05The artifact

The invoice is the part your client sees.

Every other screen serves this one document, so we treat it as a thing worth crafting. Drupd hand-typesets each template and renders it server-side at true A4 — your brand color, logo, and payment details set with a designer’s care — so the invoice landing in your client’s inbox looks deliberate, polished, and unmistakably professional. Not generated. Made.

06Before you switch

Fair questions.

The honest answers, including the ones where FreshBooks is the better fit.

01

Can I move my invoices over from FreshBooks?

You can recreate clients and start sending in minutes; Drupd keeps a searchable client directory with per-client defaults. There is no automated FreshBooks import yet, so historical invoices stay in FreshBooks for your records while new billing runs in Drupd.

02

Does Drupd do my accounting?

No, and that is deliberate. Drupd handles invoicing, payments, and follow-ups. For bookkeeping, export your full workspace as a ZIP of CSVs plus PDFs from settings and hand it to your accountant or your accounting tool.

03

I bill hourly. Can Drupd handle that without time tracking?

Yes. Line items support an Hourly type with quantity and rate, and Drupd surfaces recently-used items per client so repeat work fills in fast. You track time however you already do; Drupd turns it into the invoice.

04

Is Drupd cheaper for what I actually need?

If you need a full accounting suite, FreshBooks earns its price. If you mainly need to send polished invoices and get paid, Drupd is $6/mo against $23/mo and up, with a genuinely free starting plan.
